3 new decaffeinated Grands Crus to enrich our range

Nespresso aims to deliver extraordinary coffee experiences guaranteeing exceptional quality, so why should decaffeinated coffee moments be any different? Taking three of its most popular Grands Crus Nespresso coffee experts created decaffeinated mirror images of them. Now Club Members can extend their Nespresso pleasure to any time of the day or night.

The new coffees were especially crafted to match the exceptional character and aroma of their original Grand Cru alter egos.

Harnessing coffee expertise to maintain sensory profiles

The rich aromatic notes of the green coffees in the blends are carefully preserved during decaffeination. This step happens before roasting and grinding. Nespresso uses only processes of decaffeination with natural ingredients: water or carbon dioxide, a natural constituent of air. These processes respect the environment and the coffee bean’s true nature, allowing us to maintain the strength, variety and richness of its aromas for our consumers.

Each Nespresso Grand Cru has its own sensory profile. This profile comprises a set of specific characteristics that include intensity, bitterness, roastiness, acidity and aroma. Nespresso experts proved once again their expertise to the world of coffee, by ensuring that the caffeinated and decaffeinated blends of the respective Grands Crus share the same sensory profiles.

Decaffeinated “alter egos”

The new decaffeinated Grands Crus will replace Decaffeinato and Decaffeinato Lungo. They join Decaffeinato Intenso (intensity 7) to total 4 decaffeinated coffees that coffee lovers can enjoy. This expands the total Nespresso range to 23 unique and delightful Grands Crus.

Arpeggio Decaffeinato – intensity 9

Dark roasted and rich in flavour, Arpeggio Decaffeinato boasts the same strong character, intense body and indulgent cocoa notes as the original Arpeggio Grand Cru. Split roasting reveals the specificities of each origin: longer roasting yields a darker bean and releases the intense, cocoa-like flavours of the Brazilian and Costa Rican Arabicas; a shorter and lighter roasting of the selected Arabica from South America highlights its softer fruity notes.

Volluto Decaffeinato – intensity 4

Delightfully sweet and smooth, Volluto Decaffeinato has the same rich flavours and round body as the original Volluto Grand Cru. The selected pure Arabica beans are roasted separately to highlight their specificities: a shorter roast unfolds the sweet biscuity notes of the Brazilian Arabica, while longer but lighter roasting preserves fresh and fruity notes of the Colombian beans.

Vivalto Lungo Decaffeinato – intensity 4

A complex yet balanced blend, Vivalto Lungo Decaffeinato has the same rich character as the original Vivalto Lungo Grand Cru: roasted, lightly woody with sweet cereal and subtle floral notes. It is a pure Arabica blend from several origins including South America and East Africa. Split roasting enhances the complexity of the flavour. A shorter and lighter roast preserves the subtle flowery bouquet of the Ethiopian beans and the fruity notes of the Colombian ones. A darker and longer roast reinforces the character of the blend and develops its bitterness.

Delicious decaffeinated recipes with milk

When combined with milk, each Decaffeinato Grand Cru develops new taste dimensions, as in the case of the original Grands Crus. Nespresso coffee experts have developed a selection of delicious recipes based on the decaffeinated Grand Cru coffees.

Distinctive capsule for easy identification

A striking red dot on the top of the capsule distinguishes the three decaffeinated Grands Crus from their original alter egos. Nespresso has always used red to signify decaffeinated coffees and to help its Club Members differentiate those coffees.
